Frequently asked questions
For the audience
What is BeCloser?
BeCloser lets you speak, live, on a streamer's broadcast. You reserve a seat at an event, open your microphone when the show starts, and the streamer and their audience hear you from where you sit, like a voice in a real room.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in your web browser. When you open your seat, your browser asks for permission to use your microphone; say yes, and you are in.
Do I need headphones?
To listen, stereo headphones are best: that is how you hear where every voice in the room comes from. To speak, any microphone works, but headphones also stop the stream's sound from leaking back into your microphone.
Is my voice recorded?
BeCloser does not record your audio. It goes out live and is gone, and it is never sold or used to train AI. But every event is a live broadcast: the streamer may record their stream, and anyone watching can record it too. Treat it like speaking at a live venue.
Can I give my seat to a friend?
No. A seat is tied to the account that reserved it and cannot be sold, shared or passed on. Your microphone link is a key to your seat, so keep it to yourself.
How do I sign in?
With your Twitch or YouTube account, or with a username and password the organiser gives you. We never ask for your email address.
Why was I removed from an event?
The streamer and their moderators can mute, remove or ban anyone, at any time, to keep the room safe and on topic. Playing music through your microphone, harassment and hate speech are the usual reasons. See our Terms of Use.
Are there ads?
Our public pages, like this one and the blog, show ads. Your microphone page and the live event never do.
For streamers and organisers
What do I need to host an event?
Your usual streaming setup. One browser source in OBS brings in the audience's voices and a live seating chart, where seats light up as people speak.
Can I control who gets a seat?
Yes. Events are invite-only by default: seats go to a guest list of Twitch or YouTube handles, or to usernames and passwords you issue for people on neither. One seat per person.
Can I control who speaks?
Yes. A mixer shows who is talking and lets you mute, re-mix, remove or ban anyone mid-sentence. A noise gate on each seat keeps the room quiet in between, and on-screen cues like "Applause!" bring the whole audience in at once.
How fast is it?
Voices typically arrive in under a second, end to end. Fast enough to laugh at the right moment and to talk over each other, the things that make a room feel live.
